SGA President sets forth objectives for new semester

Greetings, I am Lamark Hughes your Student Government Association President. It is my pleasure to communicate with you as we begin our new academic school year.The 2010-2011 SGA Administration should prove to be a very productive and efficient team. It is my desire as SGA President to continue to build upon our motto of excellence through service as we strive to promote the general welfare of our student body.

Exciting things are happening at Grambling State University and SGA is at the pulse of that excitement. As we enter into a phase in GSU history with the new President, Dr. Frank G. Pogue’s Platform “A New Beginning,” it is important that we adequately represent the needs and concerns of the student body. I hope that you all have enjoyed your summer and are anticipating a productive school year. SGA hopes that you are happy and content as we pursue a new year which brings new ideas, policies, and objectives. We are also looking for some student leaders to fill some positions.

Information Technology/Web Administrator: Duties include assisting with implementing the SGA president’s agenda for advancing student technology on campus. By establishing a working relationship with the IT Department and Student Technology Committee (STC), be responsible for all maintenance and updates to the SGA Web site with the consent of the SGA president and will be required to attend all administrative council cabinet meetings.

Prerequisite:
Candidate must show previous experience in the field of Web administering and computer systems through work experience and a letter of recommendation from a credible source.

International Affairs Ambassadors (4):
Duties will include establishing a working relationship with the office of International Affairs, to support the SGA president’s vision of inclusion and promoting cultural and diverse programs on campus, and will be required to attend all administrative council cabinet meetings. This position will require a letter of recommendation from a credible source.
Director, (1) Domestic Student, (2) International Student

Keeping GSU Clean and Going Green:
To facilitate and promote GSU waste reduction and create a recycling program.The committee will collaborate with the facilities department, students, clubs and organizations, and outside partnership to promote a culture of environmental sustainability within the university and surrounding areas.
