Celebrating holidays with Dr. Pogue

“Make yourself proud of yourself,” said interim president Dr. Frank Pogue at the first Conversation Around the Christmas Tree in the atrium of the Favrot Student Union Wednesday night.Dr. Pogue also congratulated Grambling State University on the Bayou Classic win. He told listeners about his excitement and how his wife asked him to bring the check home.
Delivering his seasonal greeting, Dr. Poque expressed the hope that the community would come together and unite to make the school a better environment.

The conversation was an opportunity for community members, students, organizations and local leaders to communicate with Dr. Pogue.

The Student Government Association hosted the event in collaboration United Afrikan American Men and Entourage singing ensemble.
SGA president Steven Jackson, Miss Grambling State University Ahvery Thomas and various representatives of UAAM welcomed Dr. Pogue to Grambling State. The event was also a celebration of Kwanzaa.

The Gramblinite Editor in Chief Imani Jackson shared an original spoken word piece and told Dr. Pogue that the community is excited about his presence.
As Dr. Pogue shared his enthusiasm about the holidays, he focused on improvement plans.
He encouraged students to motivate new students to attend Grambling State. He said that the atmosphere could be changed to make students stay.

Dr. Pogue prompted laughter as he congratulated seniors or seniors who “think” they are graduating.

“I look forward to working with you all,” said Dr. Pogue. “Don’t ever pass me without saying hello, especially if I know you or we have met before.”

Dr. Pogue will be the featured speaker at commencement on Dec. 18 at 10:00 a.m. in the Assembly Center.
