Kittens headed to football playoffs

*The Louisiana High School Athletic Association Playoffs kick off this weekend. Teams in this region are gearing up for the road to New Orleans in December. The playoff atmosphere is cooking up, particularly in north Louisiana. No. 26 Grambling Lab will take on No. 8 Arcadia Hornets Friday at the Hornets Nest in Arcadia in Division 1-A.

The Kittens are excited about this Friday night because they play a team they’re familiar with. They played, battled and competed with this team, and it always ends in a last-minute unbelievable drive that draws the crowd into it.

For the Kittens, it’s a second chance to eliminate the Hornets from playoff competition.
They want the Hornets again because this time around it’s on a bigger stage, and more is at stake. It’s either win or go home.
Arcadia’s Hail Mary play two weeks ago stunned the Kittens.

That play is the hot topic debate from the last game.
With three guys, all fighting for the ball in the final minutes of the game, the ball somehow in double coverage fell into the hands of the Hornets.

For Grambling High, getting a victory now would be great. Everything the Kittens have executed, mastered and studied heavily on the field will have to be present.

The Kittens intensity level will have to pick up. It’s a test of how bad they want to get to the championship game and what team they will have to take down in order to get there.

They have to go into a hostile environment on enemy turf and take care of business. It won’t be easy, but they are built for this. The defense is remarkable.

The offense has a trio of weapons in the backfield that can run wild, beginning with long depth at the running back position. The Kittens duo threat in the backfield averages 100 yards a game.

When the Kittens get hot, it’s hard to cool them down. It should be another good game.
