KGRM staff gear up for ‘Season of Giving’

The KGRM Season of Giving Campaign is vastly approaching. All area communities are invited to participate in the 2009 event.”Our goal is to collect and distribute toys and other gifts to the underprivileged children in our community,” said Joyce B. Evans, 91.5 FM station manager.

Evans is the director of the campaign and is excited for this year’s drive. The Season of Giving Campaign started eleven years ago by KGRM and has been strong as ever in the recent years. In last year’s drive, the members of the campaign were able to help out 77 families, with each family having two or more children.

“We didn’t do as well as we wanted to, but we helped so many people. We always want to do better than the previous years,” Evens stated.

Evans mentioned how people would be surprised to know the number of children who may not receive anything for Christmas without help in the local community. Now is the time for all of us to come to the aid of the Season of Giving Program and remember every child deserves a little Christmas.

“If it wasn’t for the members of the community, we really wouldn’t be able to pull this off,” said Evans.

The campaign members would like for other organizations to jump on board with the Season of Giving crew if they are targeting the same goals. The drive will start the week of Nov. 30 from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Crew members are asking for donations. The toys must be new.

Your donation may be dropped off at KGRM located on the 2nd floor of Washington-Johnson complex on the campus of Grambling State University, across from Grambling Gift & Souvenir shop.
