Celebrating five years

As Tiger fans from across the globe come back to take part in Grambling State University’s Homecoming festivities, the Spring 2004 line of the Delta Iota Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated will celebrate their fifth year anniversary. The sorority will salute their five years through scholarship, sisterhood and service. The Delta ladies will come together with a number of planned activities. Using as a theme, Remembering the past,Celebrating the present,Embracing a future of true sisterhood.

On March 27, 2004 the 85 M.S.S.N Melodies crossed into the membership of Delta Sigma Theta, a sorority founded at Howard University on January 13, 1913.

For the past 5 years, these young ladies have been committing themselves to scholarship, sisterhood and service within their local communities. So excited, that they are inviting the Grambling/Ruston community to take part in the celebration.

The ladies will be partnering with the Grambling Fire Department the entire week leading up to homecoming, in a community wide service project – Delta’s Red Alert. They are asking everyone to make a donation of house-hold and cleaning supplies like detergent, dishwashing liquid, fabric softener, toiletries, pine sol and bleach to support the women of the Domestic Abuse Resistance Team (D.A.R.T.) shelter in Ruston.

You can make your donation during the week, by taking it to the Grambling Fire Department or by taking it directly to the D.A.R.T. shelter.

Saturday morning at 9 a.m., in Grambling’s Homecoming parade, the ladies will work with firemen to promote fire safety and prevention. They will also host an anniversary party Saturday beginning at 10:13 p.m. at Club Maxwell’s in Monroe.
