Grambling State University, the City of Grambling and surrounding areas will celebrate Make A Difference Day Saturday. The day is an annual event that takes place on the fourth Saturday of every October.According to Dr. Swedie Rutledge, Grambling’s Make A Difference Day chair, “The public is invited to participate in this 18th Annual Make A Difference Day observance, which has as its theme, “Helping Others.”
Make A Difference Day, which is sponsored by USA Weekend Magazine in partnership with the Points of Light Foundation, is America’s largest day of service with millions helping others.
“You may participate as a group or an individual,” noted Dr. Rutledge.
The top 60 participants nationwide will receive 2,000 charitable dollars and all participants will be recognized in the April USA Weekend.
In 2008, three million people cared enough about their communities to volunteer on that day, accomplishing thousands of projects in hundreds of towns.
