GSU honors employees with 20 years of service

Faculty and staff members who have given 20 years of service to Grambling State University were honored during a brief ceremony in the Atrium located in the student union building Tuesday afternoon. Approximately 10 faculty members received certificates of appreciation from University President Dr. Horace Judson.

During the event the honorees were treated to light refreshments while words of congratulations were expressed among the honorees and other special guests.
Retired professor Dr. Grace Tatem said the event was well received by everyone and she said believes that this serves as a “tool” for further encouragement to honorees, since it’s always uplifting when someone returns thanks especially when they don’t have to.

During Dr. Judson’s brief remarks, he encouraged attendees to focus on four essential attributes for their lives. These were outlined as employment, self-respect, love and most of all the need for God.

Dr. Tatum said the president’s comments were encouraging and outlined that each person at the university has his or her part to play in ensuring the overall success of GSU.

She was honored last year and displayed her Grambling honorary 20th year award pin while speaking to The Gramblinite shortly after the ceremony.
