Posted: 7/9/09 at noonThe Board of Aldermen is set to meet tonight at 5:30 p.m. in the City Hall to discuss the legalities of the Mayor Martha Andrus investigation and to request her to resign.
Andrus was arrested on Tuesday morning and charged with two counts each of unauthorized use of a movable and malfeasance in office. Andrus turned herself in around 9 a.m., according to sources, and she was released on a $5,000 bond.
Shortly afterwards, Gov. Bobby Jindal asked for the mayor to resign.
“The mayor should resign immediately,” Jindal said, according to The (Monroe) News-Star. “This is a violation of the public trust, and the people of Grambling deserve honest leadership. These charges should be investigated and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
Andrus has refused to resign, according to The News-Star.
The Gramblinite will have Twitter updates coming from the meeting tonight, as well as an intensive story tomorrow.
