Neville to perform at the Dixie on May 8

Louisiana ‘s own multi-Grammy winner Aaron Neville is scheduled to appear at the Dixie Theater in Ruston May 8.Aaron was the first of the famous Neville Brothers to burn his way up the national charts. In 1966, his “Tell It Like It Is” hit No. 1, and he hasn’t stopped yet.

Since then he has recorded numerous hits with such greats as Linda Ronstadt, Trisha Yearwood and others.

Neville has been nominated for numerous Grammies in categories as diverse as country and western, pop, rhythm and blues, and gospel. He and Trisha Yearwood won Best Country and Western vocal collaboration, and he and Linda Ronstadt won two Grammies in duets. Both were Top 10 hits.

He won Best Male Singer two years running in the Rolling Stone critics’ poll. His latest album Bring It On Home-The Soul Classics took 14 iconic soul songs and stripped them to their essence. Neville doesn’t just cover them he redefines them. His genius, evident in this record, is still expanding, still deepening.

He, along with his sisters and brothers, are regulars at the New Orleans Jazz Festival each spring, singing their award winning soul, rhythm and blues, as well as gospel. He will be appearing at Jazzfest again this year five days before the Dixie show.
