NEW ORLEANS – Grambling State is one of two universities where the NCAA says the athletics program has problems.
The organization gave the athletics programs at Grambling State and Howard University conditional certification on Wednesday. At the same time, it gave full certification to 35 other schools, including Louisiana-Lafayette, Louisiana-Monroe and Ole Miss.
An NCAA news release says conditional certification indicates that the school is largely following Division I rules, but has problems serious enough to withhold full certification until they are corrected.
The NCAA says it does not give out specific information about an institution’s self-study or peer-review visit, or about its conditions for certification.
Grambling State sports information director Roderick Mosely did not immediately return a call for comment.
