Senior Class president shares updates

Graduation is a mere seven weeks away and the senior class has been extremely busy trying to prepare for this momentous occasion. There have been a lot of questions about the date when seniors will be able to purchase caps, gowns, stoles, and announcements.

On April 1 in the Black and Gold Room from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m., we will be having a graduate fair for all graduating seniors. All graduating seniors will be able to purchase cap and gown, graduation stoles, diploma frames, class rings, announcements and invitations, and Class of 2009 memorabilia.

This is the only day that Balfour will be on campus so please come by before 4 p.m. Representatives from Career Services, the Counseling Center, and the Registrar’s Office will also be at the event to answer any questions.

We will have our final class meeting of the year on Tuesday, April 14 at 6 p.m. in Room 242 of the Favrot Student Union.

Leading the agenda will be disbursing graduation information as well as the list of graduating seniors for spring. We will also be taking orders for our senior class shirts. Our vice-president Staci Hall has been working on a design for the Class of 2009 T-shirts.

Every Wednesday for the rest of the semester, members of the Senior Class will continue with our community service project with Dr. Grace Tatem at the Grambling Community Center behind the fire station.

The project is called “Enhancing the Quality of Life for Senior Citizens in Rural Communities After the Trauma of Katrina/Rita.” This is a service-learning program that goes on from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. every Wednesday.

This is an excellent way to earn community service hours and give back to our community. There will be a sign-in sheet on the middle table for everyone to sign indicating how long you worked. Please come by for at least thirty minutes to an hour to help us out with this project.

You may contact me or one of the other class officers or Dr. Tatem, at 318-274-3302 if you have any questions.
