It doesn’t take long to realize that Reno Nevada is about his business when it comes to the music game. Tuning into his Ill-itteracy: The Mixtape will have you wanting to know more about the guy that spits rhymes with a fervent flow.
With DJ Rav Smoove hosting the tape, the album is definitely a banger. However, Smoove’s rewinding techniques, as with all DJs on mixtapes, kind of slows down the pace on some songs.
Maybe it’s just me, but I love songs that have not been touched by DJs so I can listen to see how well does the flow go after the artist says something hot.
The good thing about this album is that Reno Nevada shows that hunger that most rappers lack these days. It’s like he’s been hungry since mixtapes began, and is now letting the flurry of rhymes leap out.
Parents be warned; there is cussing on this album. That’s probably the only setback for the adolescents that want to download this album.
Reno’s lyrical style is a smattering, leaving the listener’s brain to sit back and imagine what’s going on. He also doesn’t use a rhyme scheme that gets boring anytime soon.
It’s things like this that makes Reno Nevada an artist under the radar.
