Grambling Middle School recently participated in the National Student/Parent Mock Election . It is the nation’s largest and most successful voter education program.While focusing on the political process, students researched the candidates, wrote speeches and held a mock press conference to encourage fellow students to vote for them. Cathy Holmes’ classroom served as the school election headquarters.
Students presented political platforms for John McCain, Sarah Palin, Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Mary Landrieu and John Kennedy. Barack Obama was portrayed by George Posey while JaTauria Dean imitated Michelle Obama.
DaVauhnte; Turner and Brittany Rollins were John McCain and Sarah Palin. Aubriyanna Leichman and Martreyivous Tolston served as Mary Landrieu and John Kennedy.
Students at GMS voted for their candidate of choice via the computer. Barack Obama won the state’s student mock election with 65% of the vote.
