Lady Tigers thump Huston-Tillotson

Run Date: 11/09/08The Lady Tigers made an impressive debut, as they blew out Huston Tillotson 91-63 in an exhibition game on Sunday afternoon.

It took almost over four minutes for the Lady Tigers to record their first points of the game. For the game, the Tigers shot almost 40 percent from the field, 23 percent from the three point line and 76 percent from the free throw line.

Even after winning by 28 points, Grambling head coach Donnita Drain feels that her team still has a lot of work to do. Drain said that she graded the team’s performance as a D+.

Drain said that the team needs to work on fouls, making easy baskets and not giving the team so many easy shots.

Drain was pleased the efforts of Secret Anderson (13 points and four rebounds) and Krystal Huggins (12 points and 12 rebounds).

Huston Tillotson trailed on by 10 points at the half, however because of missed shots and turnovers; they never got back in the game. Tillotson’s Kevetta Williams led all scorers with 21 points.

The Lady Tigers open the season Nov.19 against Lamar, tipoff time is set for 7p.m.
