Subway robbed Monday night

Grambling State and Grambling city police are looking for a man after he walked in and robbed Subway in Grambling.According to owner Roderick Sims, the man walked into Subway about 10:30 p.m. Monday and robbed him with a B-13 Ruger, escaping with less than $100. Sims described the man as a Black male around 19 years of age and wearing a hoody.

“Normally, we are packed,” he said. “It seems like he made sure nobody was in here.”

But Sims was quick to say that the incident wasn’t that bad.

“I’ve been in this business for 24 years and I’ve never been robbed,” Sims said. “But if you stay in this business long enough, it’s going to happen.

“I’ve been in much worse working situations,” he continued. “To say it’s a bad situation is an overstatement. This is a minor incident that happens everywhere.”

Sims said that his customers do not have anything to worry about, as he insists Subway is a safe place.

“It didn’t take long for the police to get here,” he said. “I walked out the store, and they were coming down the street.”

Anyone with information regarding the suspect is urged to call the GSUPD at (318) 274-2222 or the Grambling PD at (318) 247-3771.
