Greatest GSU football players of all-time

Offense:Quarterback – Doug Williams >b?
Doug Williams played quarterback at GSU from 1974-1977. During his four years at GSU he had a 36-7 record and finished fourth in the Heisman Trophy voting race in 1976.

Running back – Eric Grant
Eric Grant was a two time first time all SWAC selection from 1991-1992. During his years at GSU, he set a school record with 3,795 rushing yards and scored 34 touchdowns.

Running back – Paul Tank Younger
Paul Tank Younger played at GSU from 1945-1948. During his tenure at Grambling, he scored 60 total touchdowns.( Which at the time was a NCAA record.)

Wide receiver – Clyde Edwards
Clyde Edwards played at GSU from 2004-2007. During his time at Grambling he rewrote all the receiving records. He finished his career with 140 catches for 3,060 yards and 36 touchdowns.

Wide receiver – Scotty Anderson
Scotty Anderson played at Grambling was a two time All-SWAC performer from 1999-2000. During his time at GSU, he had 3,182 receiving yards and 34 touchdowns.

Wide receiver – Tramon Douglas
Tramoun Douglas played at GSU from 2000-2003. During his time at GSU, he had 2,943 receiving yards and 34 touchdowns.

Tight End – Willie Brown
One of the greatest cornerbacks in NFL history, was not only an outstanding Tight end but defensive end.

Offensive lineman – Sam Holden
Sam Holden was an all SWAC performer in 1970.

Offensive lineman – Willie Davis
Willie Davis was a two- time Black college all American from 1954-1955.

Center – Billy Manning
Billy Manning was an all SWAC performer in 1970.

Guard – Woodie Peoples
Woodie Peoples was an all SWAC performer in 1964.

Tackle – Ernie Ladd
Ernie Ladd was an all SWAC performer in 1964.

Defense:

Defensive lineman – Robert Smith
Robert Smith set a school record with 48.5 career sacks.

Defensive lineman – Buck Buchanan
Buck Buchanan was a three-time Black college All American.

Defensive lineman – Gary “Big Hands” Johnson
Gary Johnson was a three-time All American in 1971-1974.

Defensive lineman – Fred Collins
Fred Collins finished with a school record 367 tackles for his career.

Lineacker – Andre Robinson
Andre Robinson played at Grambling from 1977 to 1981. During his time at GSU, he was MVP of the 1980 Bayou Classic and was the first player to be named MVP at Grambling.

Linebacker – Paul Tank Younger
Besides, running back, he was a tackle and an outstanding linebacker.

Linebacker – Kenneth Pettaway
Kenneth Pettway was a linebacker/ defensive end. He was an all SWAC performer in 2004.

Defensive back – Albert Lewis
Albert Lewis was drafted in 1983 by the Kansas City Chiefs. Besides being an outstanding corner at GSU, he went on to intercept 38 passes in the NFL, good for fifth all time.

Defensive back – Everson Walls
Everson Walls played at Grambling from 1977-1980. During his time at GSU, he was an all American, and his senior year in 1980, he led the nation in interceptions with 11.

Defensive back – Steve Dennis
Steve Dennis played at Grambling from 1969-1972. Today, Dennis’ 27 interceptions are still a school record.

Defensive back – Fakir Brown
Fakir Brown finished his season with 68 tackles and 6 sacks.

Coach – Eddie Robinson
Eddie Robinson coached at Grambling for 56 years, totaling 408 victories. During his time at Grambling he coached over 4,000 players and sent more than 200 of them to the NFL.
