A letter from the President

Welcome Alumni and Friends:Welcome home, alumni and friends! I am delighted to welcome each and every one of you to Homecoming 2008 at Grambling State University. Many exciting and fun-filled activities have been planned for your enjoyment as you gather with former classmates and friends for a great celebration.

This is an exciting time at GSU. For those of you who have not been on the campus in a few years, be sure to visit our new Food Court and Bookstore as well as the new housing facilities. This fall, students are moving into Phase II of student housing, the Freshman Village. The new Assembly Center is in full operation as our new basketball coaches (men and women) are ready to begin a new era of basketball in this state-of-the art facility. Also, construction on the Fine Arts Building is on schedule for occupancy in the 2009 Spring Semester.

We have enhanced our academic programs in an effort to make sure the academic needs of our students are met with the highest quality. Approval was recently granted to offer the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner option in our Nursing Program. In addition, we have improved our security process for student safety.

In all areas, we are moving to new heights of excellence and productivity. Tiger pride is abounding, and we invite you to be a part of it.

It is my hope that each of you will be supportive of the university by becoming active participants in advancing the mission of this great institution. You are encouraged to contribute to our fundraising efforts, assist with student recruitment, support our efforts to strengthen our academic programs and encourage other alumni to become active and supportive. The University’s success is tied directly to the degree to which its alumni, friends and supporters become involved in advancing its mission.

Again, welcome, and enjoy Homecoming 2008.

Sincerely,

Horace A. Judson
