Favrot Student Union Board president speaks out

On behalf of the Student Union Board, I extend greetings to administration, faculty members and students of Grambling State University.I am Keshia Johnson and it gives me enormous gratification to serve as Student Union Board President for the 2008-2009 academic year. The rest of the executive board includes: Kenneth Williams (vice president), Timberly Tines (business manager) and Jackie Hoyle (administrative assistant).

The Student Union Board plans to have an exciting and thriving semester as we strive to create safe social activities for the students on Grambling State University’s campus. With Homecoming right around the corner we are encouraging ALL students and faculty members to help us convey the true spirit of homecoming.

This year’s Homecoming theme is: GSU School Daze, which is based off of Spike Lee’s movie School Daze. This eventful week will be filled with thrilling events as we step back into the 80’s.

We are strongly encouraging students to participate and find the true meaning of homecoming through fellowship, food, laughter, music, step shows and GSU Football.

The Student Union is always accepting applications for potential members or willing volunteers please, report to office 221 located upstairs in the Favrot Student Union for more information.

Some of our upcoming events for the month of October include the following:

– Oct. 10 at 6 in the Black & Gold Room – Grambling Trivia (Winner gets their choice of a FREE homecoming ticket)

– Oct. 23 at 7 in the Black & Gold Room – Dinner and a Movie

– Oct. 24 10 p.m.-midnight at Monroe Skating Rink Midnight Skating (Transportation provided)

I hope to see many students participating and enjoying the activities that the Student Union has planned. Thank you all for your gracious support.
