GSU ensemble to kick off Arts Council noon concerts

The North Central Louisiana Arts Council will present a noontime concert series in Railroad Park on Friday afternoons in October.The Live @ Lunch series will be held from noon to 1 p.m. on Oct. 10, 17, 24 and 31. A variety of musical genres, including classical, jazz, and bluegrass will be highlighted.

The BNG Strings, a classical ensemble from Grambling State University, will open the series on Oct. 10 with a concert that will include highlights from Vivaldi’s Four Seasons and Mozart’s Eine Kleine Nachtmusik.

The Red and Black Second Line Band, also from Grambling, will perform New Orleans-style jazz on Oct. 17.

The Oct. 24 concert will feature singer/songwriter Grant Terry of Ruston, and the series will end Oct. 31 with a concert by local bluegrass trio Flatland Rush.

Lunches from area restaurants will be available for $5. Audience members are also invited to bring their own lunches. The concerts will be moved to the Lincoln Parish Museum, 609 North Vienna St., if it rains.
