Plush open and ready for business

Johnnie Hassen has opened up a brand new and convenient Sports Bar & Grill in Grambling. Other than the usual Thursday through Saturday club hours, Plush hosts open mic and karaoke on Wednesday nights, along with 25 years and older on Sunday nights.

Security will be in full force on these occasions, especially with Thursday and Saturdays being the nights’ largest crowds.

The menu at Plush’s Sports Bar consists of such standby foods as hot wings, onion rings, burgers, fries and baked beans.

Hassen took the time to present an organized new business to his patrons, both young and mature. Individuals, whether students or not, can attend, order take-out or simply sit and dine.

The legal drinking age is enforced, Hassen said. Drinks will be confiscated and the bartender may lose his or her license if found serving underage patrons.

“The name Plush came from when I and some friends went to Memphis,” Hassen stated. “The two hottest clubs in town were Premiere and Plush.”

Club Premiere in Monroe is also owned by Hassen. He felt it was only right to bring Plush to Grambling.

Hassen also stated that Plush Sports Bar and Grill’s name will change by the first of the year.

The new name is not decided at the moment, but five more franchise bars and clubs will be open in different collegiate areas.
