G-Men win ugly, beating JSU 14-5

It was an ugly one at Eddie Robinson Stadium tonight, but a win is a win.The G-Men held on to defeat the Jackson State Tigers 14-5, a win that was uglier than it sounds.

Despite the offense piling up 231 yards, the G-Men only scored once on offense, a controversial 46-yard strike from J.P. Tillman to Nick Lewis. Jackson State fans wanted flag after it appeared to be some interference from Lewis, but the refs didn’t bite.

After holding the JSU Tigers at the one yard line, the G-Men gave the ball right back after JSU forced a loss of yards, netting a safety.

A field goal from Jackson State with 2:21 left in the game gave the team some added life, especially after they held the G-Men to three and out.

However, the defense refused to go a game without a TD, scoring on an 34-yard interception by Bruna’ Foster with 22 seconds left in the game.

Tillman finished the day with 103 yards passing, 50 yards rushing, and no interceptions, completing 10 out of 20 passes. Cornelius Walker finished the game with 57 yards rushing.

The G-Men remain at home next week, facing Langston State. Game time is at 3 p.m.
