This week in sports at Grambling

As school is back under way, the volleyball, football, cross country and soccer teams are back in action. Here is a look at what the teams have done so far.

Soccer The soccer team, which was picked to win the SWAC West, has gotten off to a sluggish 0-3 start. In the Lady Tigers’ three games, they have managed to score only a single goal. The soccer team returns to action Friday as the Lady Tigers will try to pick up their first win against Northwestern State.

Football

After being pounded by Nevada 49-13, the G-Men got in the win column with a 29-0 win against Alcorn State. Grambling quarterback J.P. Tillman, the transfer from Missouri, went 12-25 for 143 yards and two touchdowns. Tillman’s good performance last week has earned him the start Saturday at Northwestern State. Saturday’s kickoff is set for 2 p.m.

Volleyball

The volleyball team’s home game against Dillard has been canceled because of disruptions caused by Hurricane Gustav. The game has been moved to Monday.

Cross Country

The cross country team returns to action this week at the Louisiana Tech Invitational in Ruston.
