Next ‘Top Model’ could be Grambling alumna Pennywell

Tyra Banks’ America’s Next Top Model has chosen Grambling State alumna Joslyn Nicole Pennywell to compete in this year’s competition. Pennywell, 23 of Lucky, is the oldest of the fourteen final contestants competing for the $100,000 contract with CoverGirl cosmetics, a cover feature and six-page fashion spread in Seventeen magazine, win management and representation by Elite Model Management Agency.

Pennywell represented GSU as Miss Freshman in 2003-2004, was first runner up in Calendar Girl Pageant 2004-2005 and second runner up in Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. Scholarship Pageant 2006-2007.

Pennywell most recent title held was the Southern US Miss 2006 were she won the overall swimsuit and evening gown awards.

The two-hour season premiere aired on the CW network on Sept. 3.

During the first episode, Judges were impressed with her determination to get on the show. Pennywell auditioned about 30 times. Banks commented that she liked Pennywell’s “country accent.”
