Miss GSU offers advice to students

Greetings to all. As your reigning Miss Grambling State University 2008-2009, it is a distinct honor and a privilege to welcome the newest edition to the Tiger Family, as well as the returning students to Tiger Land. It is here that many of you will embark on a life-changing journey. Congratulation; your success is just ahead of you. While taking this path, some of you will discover qualities never known to exist. Many of you will develop personality, individuality, and pride. Some of you will become social butterflies. All things mentioned above are expected during the college experience. However, I would like to offer some very important tools to guide the legacy that I know will be left here at Grambling by you.

First and foremost, we must never forget your purpose and your education. Your education means so much to your future. Remember to study hard. There may come a time when you may have to choose your homework over your social life. However, remember your purpose. The choice is yours.

Secondly, get involved. It is here in college that most make their life long friends and gain the confidence to speak in front of that crowd of millions or pitch a world changing idea to that fortune 500 company. Here at Grambling, there are many organizations in which you can express yourself.

Finally, make the best of your college experience. Do not allow time to pass you by. Make memories so that you may be able to share with others. Always attempt to stay afloat. Practice punctuality. One of my great professors once said, “To be on time is to be late and to be early is to be on time.”

Hopefully, your experiences will have nothing more than sheer resemblance. Grambling has greatly influenced the individual I have become. Expectantly, it will do the same for you.
