Grambling family mourns losts

Funeral services for Wanda Jean Miles will be held Friday, June 13, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 2586 Martin Luther King Ave. in Grambling. The viewing will be held today from 6 to 7 p.m. at King’s Funeral Home, 1511 W. California Ave, Ruston.
She passed Saturday, June 7. Wanda was born Dec. 20, 1952 to Earnest and Clara Miles in Winnfield. Wanda gave her life to Christ at an early age, and was baptized at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, where she was a faithful member. She enjoyed the worship, hearing the word of God and the fellowship. She is a 1971 graduate of Grambling High school.
Wanda was very proud of her volunteer work as a Pink Lady at Lincoln General Hospital. The opportunity to share her kindness and care with families in need was not a chore for Wanda, but a pleasure and a ministry. She served in this capacity for over 20 years until her death.
Wanda had a passion for reading, and writing poetry. She frequently provided copies of her poetry to her family for enjoyment. During her 55 years of life, she gave her family immense love and affection that will be missed.
Her smile will never be forgotten and will be held exclusively in our hearts and memories.
Wanda was preceded in death by her brother, John Robert Miles. She leaves to cherish her memory her parents, Earnest and Clara Miles; sister, Rita (Rodney) Billups of Dallas, Texas; brother, Earnest (Donna Sheri) Miles II of Grambling; four nieces, Bridget Billups, Ashley Billups, Kimberley Miles and Chelsea Billups; nephew, Earnest Miles III; grandmother, Juanita Kochinsky; dear friend, Don Juan Joe, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
