Apple going ‘green’ by helping recycle old computers

It’s the perfect time to go green. This spring, Apple will recycle old, unwanted Mac computers, PCs and qualifying peripherals from any manufacturer-for free. There’s no purchase required, and all accredited K-12 and higher education institutions with at least 25 systems to be recycled are eligible to participate.

Apple assures those who want to participate in the Apple Recycle Program for Education that its recycling is done domestically in the United States, that all asset tags and other identifying marks will be removed, and that all hard drives will be ground into confetti-sized pieces to help ensure that all data is secure.

Those who want to take advantage of the opportunity to recycle need to register by June 30, and package their systems according to the instructions. All products must be collected by Aug. 31. Remember, a minimum of 25 systems are required for the education institution to participate.

To register for the program, fill out the online form or call (800) APPLE-LN (800-277-5356).

The offer expires June 30.
