Graduate killed in accident

Funeral services for Tequita D. Bryant will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Winnfield Primary School in Winnfield.Bryant was killed on Feb. 29 in an accident on U.S. 167 in Grant Parish. The crash involved a 2000 Ford Escort, which was driven by Bryant. She was driving southbound on U.S. 167 when she lost control of the car, ran off the roadway to the left and collided with a tree.

Bryant died as a result of her injuries. According to the accident report, she was not wearing her seatbelt.

Bryant, who was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., had just graduated this past semester, with a bachelor of science degree in nursing.

As news of her passing spread through Grambling State University, Facebook statuses were updated with a dedication to her, showing how she had an impact on the university.

“She was a truly remarkable person,” said Alexier Barbour, her line sister. “She was very selfless and fun-loving. Her line name was Pretty Vivacious, which embodied exactly who she was.”

Alaina Fruge’ was also on the same line as Bryant, and she remembers her fondly.

“She was a woman of excellence,” said Fruge. “She was a true definition of an Alpha Kappa Alpha Woman, definitely always ‘about the business.’ She will truly be missed!
