Marrow Donor Drive set Friday in Favrot Student Union at GSU Grambling State will be the site of a Marrow Donor Drive from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday in Favrot Student Union.

Those interested in joining the Marrow Donor Registry must be between the ages of 18 and 60, meet certain health guidelines and be willing to donate to any patient in need.

Deacons for Defense member to speak Sunday in Jonesboro

An original member of the Deacons for Defense, a historic civil rights group, will appear Sunday in Jonesboro.

The public is invited to hear about the formation and actions of the Black self-defense group who changed the face of the civil rights struggle in the South in the 1960s. The group was founded in Jonesboro.

The event will begin at 7 p.m. at the Greater Jonesboro Church of God in Christ, 506 Baker St.

Chamber to present historical look at businesses in Grambling

The Greater Grambling Chamber of Commerce will present “A Historical Look at Grambling Businesses,” Feb. 28 at 6:30 p.m. in the Grambling Recreation Center behind the fire station.

This Black History Month project is an effort by the chamber to compile a history of Grambling area businesses. Through a slide presentation and Grambling residents, the chamber will highlight early Grambling business establishments and owners from the late 1800s to the present.

These businesses will be acknowledged by the chamber in what they hope will become an annual Grambling business recognition program for Black History Month celebration.

Engineering Week observance to feature guest speaker tonight

The annual Clayton A. Wiley Engineering Week is under way on the Grambling State campus.

The event, which celebrates Wiley’s contributions to the engineering technology at GSU, will hold its Honors/Awards Program and Career Fair Opening Reception at 6 tonight in the Black & Gold Room of Favrot Student Union. The week will culminate with the Career Fair from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday in the Men’s Memorial Gymnasium.

Rising Junior Examination to be given again Tuesday in WH10

There will be a retake of the Rising Junior Examination from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday in Woodson Hall Room 10.

Students who have registered for GET 300 should take a valid GSU ID card, two No. 2 pencils, a green scantron. Calculators may also be used.

Preregistration for housing for this fall to be held Feb. 25-March 13

Prehousing, which is required of all students who plan to live on campus, will begin Feb. 25-29. Students in Tiger Village 100A, 100B, 200, 300, 400, Hunter/Robinson, garner, Bowen, Bethune, Jeanes, Truth and Tubman should go to the Grambling Hall Auditorium from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday next week.

Students who live in Tiger Village 500 and 600 must prehouse on March 10-13. The same location and hours apply.
