Black and Gold foundation to host captial campaign

Final plans have been made for one of the most detailed capital campaigns for Grambling State University.The Grambling Black and Gold Foundation Inc. will host a comprehensive capital campaign kick-off gala Nov. 24 in New Orleans at the J.W. Marriott Hotel, 616 Canal St.

The black-tie event will start at 6:30 p.m. in the Ile de France Ballroom at the hotel. The event will include a reception where the GSU faculty jazz ensemble will perform. Vignettes from the production Bubbling Brown Sugar will be presented by the F.L. Sandle Players of the Grambling Speech and Theatre Department, and the Orchesis Dance Company will make a creative presentation.

Featured entertainment for the event will be provided by noted recording group Sweet Honey In The Rock.

“Reclaiming Our Legacy and Claiming Our Place” is the theme for the campaign, which is designed to assist the university in securing resources for enhancement.

“The university is currently undergoing a major transition and in order to continue producing graduates who can compete on a global scale, Grambling must firmly take control of its destiny and strengthen its financial position,” said GSU president, Dr. Horace A. Judson.
The kick-off gala will mark the public phase of the campaign. Through scholarship endowments, contributions and bequests, donors are able to invest in student success at Grambling State University.
