When alumni arrived in Grambling two weeks ago for the Homecoming festivities, some made quick stops by the spots that have traditionally been in Grambling.Usually, it’s hot outside, so many stop by and get ice cream at Sonic in Grambling.
However, this year it was different. The store was closed, and not for a day – but for good.
Melonnie Honore, a senior music performance major and former worker at Sonic, said slow business and an inspection may be partly responsible for the closure.
“Rumor has it the reason the store closed is because of a failed inspection,” Honore said.
Sonic is just one more business that has left the Grambling community. “It’s very unfortunate and unexpected that something happened like this,” Honore said.
