The Delta Sigma Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha, in conjunction with Subway of Grambling, will host Battle With A Purpose, a show featuring high school bands. It is the first fraternity-sponsored “battle” of the bands featured at GSU.”We’re trying to be innovative,” said Freddie D. Harris, who coordinated the event.
“It’s a great recruiting tool for Grambling,” he said. “It gives a positive light on the Alphas and Grambling.”
The Battle With A Purpose is slated to feature nearly 20 high schools from Louisiana, Texas and Arkansas. Tickets are available at Subway in Grambling and S&S Pharmacy in Monroe. The event is only one entity of the upcoming Alpha Week.
On Saturday after the ULM game, there will be an Alpha Fest I-20 Party at the Monroe Civic Center. On Sunday, the Alphas will worship at New Rocky Valley Church. On Monday, Greek Talk will occur in Woodson Hall. On Tuesday, a dating game titled Chilled Connections will take place.
The Annual Miss Black and Gold Scholarship Pageant is set for Nov. 15 in T.H. Harris Auditorium. On Nov. 16, the Alphas will host a “It’s Good To Be King Pre-Bayou Classic Party” in the Women’s Gym.
