Modeling troupe formed

Grambling State University is becoming an advocate to fashion and the International Students are no strangers to the fact. The International Students have started their own modeling organization entitled the International Modeling Society. Already, the society has hosted two meetings and judging by the 50 students that showed up, it’s going to be a success.

“My dream was always to establish an organization that deviated from the normal in regards to modeling and the International Modeling Society seeks to do just that,” stated president Mekayel Luke. ” We will exude creativity, uniqueness and diversity.”

The modeling society is the first of its kind and it plans on setting its standards high. In order to be a member of this esteemed society, students must meet certain qualifications.

Although it is an International organization, students are not required to be of non-American decent. It is preferred for students to be foreign but as long as they are willing to work the society will welcome them. This is to uphold the organizations motto “Everyone gets a chance to express its own individual culture.”

Students also must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 and a 3.5 GPA to be president.

“It seems to be a good idea and I hope the modeling troop moves forward in whatever it does,” quoted former Black Dynasty member Broderick Egging.

Even though the society is young they are already planning their first show on October 26 in the Black and Gold room.

This is not going to be a big extravaganza; it’s just something for the campus to get to know what the organization is about.

The modeling society is has composed a constitution and its advisor Mrs. Linda Ward is in favor of the elite group.

Vice President Kurlyn Honore stated, “I am elated to be part of an organization that embraces and encourages the unity of international students in a non conventional way.”

Although the International Modeling Society has a long way to go, it seems to be off to a great start.
