Meet the Greeks informs students about organization

Students on campus were in attendance to the “Meet the Greeks” ceremony on Monday, September 10, 2007. Members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. hosted the event. Students were gathered together in the Black and Gold Room and were divided into two sections to receive vital information about each organization. Both organizations represented two parts of the “Divine Nine.”Members of each organization were honored to walk around and discuss their organization with every female interested in the two organizations.

“I am very excited about all of the females students that came out to support the ‘Divine Nine.’ I am glad that we are able to show our student body exactly what we are about as a Greek organization,” said Niecea Flucas, member of Zeta Phi Beta.

The Zetas were excited to share some of their experiences with the interested students to enlighten and encourage them to join their organization.

“We encourage girls to do what is in their hearts, rather than to just join an organization that does not relate to them,” said Dominique Cursey, member of Zeta Phi Beta.

The Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority also were pleased with the amount of students interested in joining their organization. Morgan Chenevert, member of Alpha Kappa Alpha, believed that it was a very encouraging night when they seen so many young women interested in becoming a part of greek life.

“This semester’s ‘Meet the Greeks’ program was a great success,” said Kourtni Mason, Anti-Secretary of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. “There were many young ladies that participated and gained pertinent information about Greek lettered organizations.

The Alpha Theta chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. would like to encourage students to attend more functions such as these in the future.”

The evening turned out brilliant and very informative for all of the ladies interested in joining Greek life and both organizations hope to see many of the females show more interests in joining one of the two organizations.
