Grambling national alumni convention heads to Chicago

Contributing writer It’s that time of the year again, for the Grambling University National Alumni Association, Inc. (GUNAA), National Convention. The convention will take place Thursday, July 26 through Sunday, July 29, in Chicago.
This year’s host is the Windy City Alumni Chapter, with the theme being “A Gathering Of Tigers: Reviving the Commitment While Bridging the Gap.” The convention does include a list of exciting activities such as a carnival, a casino, and a golf tournament. All alumni are invited to attend, and yes there will be church services held on Sunday, July 29. There will also be an opportunity to attend a viewing of The Color Purple musical presented by Oprah Winfrey.
Registration packages are available at the Alumni Center located on Grambling State University’s campus. Included in the packages are registration forms, an activities list and information on this year’s Bayou Classic game. Sharon Armstrong, president of GUNAA, is “looking forward to our coming together, developing strategies, increasing membership and fundraising, establishing new chapters, and cultivating a spirit of unity.”
