Thunder hit the floor as 95 ladies of pastel pink and green made their presence known. Their 4-inch black boots greeted the floor with heavy stomps as they stepped their way into the fall 2005 Alpha Theta chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc.
The theme of pink and green completely flourished the scene in the Men’s Gymnasium on Oct. 19 in tribute to the new AKA sisterhood. And to get the event jumping a DJ was invited to hype up the crowd as the new AKAs got ready.
Their first appearance was an expression of togetherness as they walked out holding hands.
Larry Kerlegan, a sophomore, said, “I like how they came out holding hands. That was real sisterhood”.
The Probate also brought along nearly 300 people and then some. People from all organizations came to support a friend or relative that night, from roommates to mothers. Members of Delta Sigma Theta, Omega Psi Phi, Zeta Phi Beta, and Kappa Alpha Psi all came to support a friend or family member.
In the heat of the excitement AKA new members were asked how they felt.

Charisma Sweat, a Junior, stated that “Joining the AKA Sorority has been the best decision that I have made in my life.”

Many students felt that the probate was a success and that the step show was still entertaining even though the young ladies only had three days to prepare for it. This has been the first AKA line since trhe fall of 03 due to certain circumstances that AKA members are not at liberty to discuss.
