City post office to hold open house

The city of Grambling will host a historic event Friday, Sept. 9. The new post office will have its grand opening ceremony in which a postmark commemorating Eddie G. Robinson will be unveiled.

This postmark will only be used on the day of the grand opening making it a collector’s item.

The Congressional Delegation of Louisiana, including both state Senators, Mayor Martha Andrus, and other Louisiana political officials are expected to be in attendance.

“If [all of the politicians] come, we will have a huge amount of political clout that will be in one place. Hopefully, a lot of people will come,” said Post Master of the Grambling Post Office Ora Sanders.

The grand opening ceremony event precedes the Eddie G. Robinson Museum fund-raising banquet, a black-tie affair, that will be held later on during the month.

The new post office will officially open for business between Sept. 12 and Sept. 16.
