Business can boom in The Village

College students must typically cut some things in their lives because they can’t afford everything they want while taking care of everything they need.Slice of Heaven is a simple eatery in the village that serves college student’s favorites: pizza, chicken tenders and hot wings for a low price.

At Slice of Heaven, one can purchase a meal for only $5. It is simply a “to-go” place.

The owner, Eric Rogers, describes Slice of Heaven as “similar to Dominos.”

It is open from 11 am -4 pm for lunch. From 4 pm-10 pm, this quaint shack doubles as JJ’s Cajun Kitchen.

All meals are $5, no matter the time of day.

Not only does Rogers own his kitchen, he also owns a Boost

Mobile store down the street from his kitchen.

Rogers opened Boost Mobile January 18.

He understands the need for communication and wants to make paying for the bill easy and convenient.

Rogers’ plans range from $50-$60. The plans include unlimited talk, text and web usage.

The advantages of his plans include no contracts, hidden fees, taxes or upgrade fees.

If you have Boost mobile, you will receive a free 10″ pizza when you pay at his location.

Not only is Rogers a successful entrepreneur, but he is also a youth minister and mentor.

Rogers and his wife moved to Ruston from San Francisco after his wife accepted an offer as the women’s basketball coach.

While in San Francisco, Rogers was in the military. After the military, he helped promote musical artists. He promoted legends including Tupac, Snoop Dogg, Biggie, En Vogue and Chris Tucker.

As of now, Rogers doesn’t have children but has nieces, nephews and godchildren.

So it’s not set in stone who will take over his store and kitchen down the line.

Working for Rogers is convenient for students because it’s not far from campus, workers get paid and he’s more than willing to work around students’ schedules.
Rogers chose the village for his locations because it is “a thriving area.”

Surprisingly the economy has not affected the owner’s businesses.

“You get more for the money,” he said.

He plans to open another Boost Mobile in Ruston within the next 90-120 days.

He will be opening more businesses in Monroe and Bossier.
Rogers is heavily involved in supporting GSU. He sponsors the basketball and baseball teams along with a Calendar Girl.

Eventually he wants to get into real estate but, as of now, he is focusing on his businesses.
Rogers is currently looking for interns. The internship will be paid and students will learn about running a business.

Interested students should visit the establishments.
