Last week on April 9th, Ginia Smith showcased the finale of “Grambling’s Next Top Model” competition. The season began with the top 10 male and female models that made it past auditions and onto the show.
The evening opened with the singing of “Queen To Be” to kick off the night, which included performances and poem readings from the Grambling State University Lyrical Quest organization. To keep the audience entertained between scenes, there were five total scenes where the models were challenged to do American walks, European walks, and a mixture of the two.
The winners were judged based on their ability to speak in front of a camera and overall ability to runway model. Six judges sat front and center to evaluate and tally the votes to determine which man and woman would win the next top model.
The winners were Sharrell Williams and Marcus Darden. These two models will receive scholarships going towards books and a chance to be in Fashion Weekly.
LenShawra Moore, a psychology major from Bastrop, Louisiana, said her favorite scene was the last one. When asked if she enjoyed the overall show, Moore responded, “it was alright even though the wait time between scenes were a little long.”
Quante Otokiti, a Criminal Justice major from Chicago said “the show was very interesting and the scenes were well put together.” All of the scenes included material from various clothing lines such as Royal Bum.
