Branch finishes strong

GSU soccer player Robblyn Branch finishes senior year on the field while maintaining a 3.9 grade point average

You may hear the whistles. You may feel the crack of helmets clashing with one another. You may see the lights late at night, but what you don’t hear, what you don’t feel, and what you don’t see is the determination put forth by not only the players, but the coaching staff.
Practice for the G-men on a normal week starts at 3 p.m. after an hour of meetings usually, but this week as Grambling State prepares to face off against the Mississippi Valley State University Delta Devils (2-7) you may have seen or heard them start practice a little later than usual, say about 8 p.m.  to be exact.
This is due to the fact that not only are the G-men playing at a later time than usual, but an earlier day than usual.
College football is traditionally held on Saturdays, but every now and then a team gets the opportunity to have an early week and play on a Thursday. Is it really an opportunity? The G-men 6-3 overall and 6-0 in the SWAC have the chance to make a statement to the SWAC this week against Mississippi Valley, showing that a short week won’t stop the Tigers.
A late game can’t stop the Tigers, and up to this point no one in the SWAC can stop the Tigers.
“The Tigers late night practices for the Mississippi Valley State game shows that they’re prepared to play anytime of the day. Morning, evening or night, the G-men can’t and won’t be stopped”,  said Carl Robinson, a junior social work major from Tallulah.
Students can’t wait to watch the G-men in action in person and on TV, yeah that’s right on TV. The game will be airing tonight on ESPN3.com.
“It’s exciting to have the opportunity to watch the G-men continue their success in the SWAC,” said Jennifer Meregini, a senior music education major from Moreno Valley, Calif.
The G-men continued their winning ways last week against Texas Southern University with a blowout victory of 35-7. The first and only touchdown against our mighty Tigers came with 12 minutes left in the second quarter. Grambling will look to continue that kind of overall dominance in the game versus the Delta Devils.
