Lab Schools crown kitten queens

Miss Grambling High, Kaniya Dudley, a senior from Minden along with many other students were honored at Grambling High School’s Coronation in the T.H. Harris Auditorium Wednesday, Oct. 8.
The jazzy sounds of “Down in New Orleans” played throughout the room as the backdrop appeared with a setting that would have you thinking you were sitting right by the Bayou.
Dynamic DuMaine soon took the stage, and opened the night with dance.
Not only were the high school students recognized but also the middle and elementary schools.
Kamille Patton was crowned Miss Alma J. Brown and escorted by Jace Morris.
Kaley Warillon was named Miss Sixth Grade and ac- companied by Logan Reese. Mariah Berry was honored as Miss Seventh Grade and Diamond Loyd received Miss Eighth Grade.
Miss Grambling Middle School, Junera Wilson along with her escort Aaron Hill gave the audience a quick laugh. After Hill dropped her bouquet and nervously picked it up, they both shared a relieved laugh as the audience began to applaud.
The school’s organizations also picked their leading ladies whom they wanted to repre- sent them. The organizations that were displayed were: Miss Band, Miss Basketball, Miss Cheerleader, Miss Dynamic DuMaine Dancer, Miss 4-H, Miss Softball, Miss Track, and Miss Football Sweetheart.

resented by: Shamire Brown , Miss Freshman, and was escorted by Julian Houston, Tiaron Ford stands as Miss Sophomore and was led by Fabian Randle, Soniah Shel- ton is Miss Junior and was ushered by Shawn Brantley, Dandrica Lewis is Miss Senior and was escorted by Trace Payne.
“My favorite part was when they brought her out,” said Tiki Johnson, the mother of Dudley. “She looked like a queen. I also loved her ac- ceptance speech, it meant so much to me.”
Dudley left the crowd in awe and amusement as she made her grand entrance. Lead by the band and Gram- bling High School dancers on her personalized Mardi Gras float while being carried in by four young men, in which everyone stood to see.

High School Student Govern- ment Association president escorted Dudley.
“When the band came out, and brought out Miss Grambling High it was a great aspect and I just love the way they did it,” said Craig Johnson, a senior majoring in accounting and business from Shreveport.
After being announced and her biography was read Dudley’s speech began to play.
“When you look at me, I want you to see yourself,” said Dudley speaking of her mother. She dedicated most of her speech to her mother expressing how thankful she was and showing her love.
The audience enjoyed performances by Adarian Wil- liam’s, Grambling’s freshman class president, along with the Orchesis Dance Company of Grambling State.
