Music for the lovers of today

Growing up, listening to music in the late ’90s into the early 2000s was simply amazing.

I don’t mean to brag, but music in that era was the best. Music was real, it was authentic and it was heartfelt. During that era is when I fell in love with the art.

Not to sound old school, but back then music actually meant something. Hip-hop was more than just lyrical metaphors that rhymed and rhythm and blues was more than songs about the opposite sex that aspired people to get busy in the bedroom.

Music was filled with passion, especially R&B music.

Besides R. Kelly, who’s been known for making lyrical porn, artists such as Whitney Houston, Mary J. Blige, Monica, Brandy, Jon B, Maxwell, Musiq Soulchild, Ginuwine and Tyrese were leading artists in the industry that had some substance behind their lyrics.

Then you had groups such as TLC, SWV, Tony Braxton, Jahiem, Dru Hill, Jodeci, Jagged Edge, Boys II Men, Silk, Destiny’s Child and many more who contributed to the great era of music.

When you talked about making good quality music, those were some

of the artist who really put their stamp on the generation.

Back then, if you didn’t know how to talk to girls, you could easily be assisted by music.

For example, if you wanted to learn how to approach a female you liked, you could play, “Come and talk to me,” Jodeci

The song demonstrates a smooth and proper way to approach a female that’s been catching your eyes. The song  says,  “Been watching you baby, for a long time.

You look so good, got my eyes on you.

I’ve been watching you for so very long.

Trying to get my nerve built up to be so strong. I really want to meet you.”

Nowadays, good R&B music is a rarity in the industry. You can barley find the type of substance in R&B music you had in the ’90s and early 2000s

Contemporary R&B music is now lustful and they are not made for lovers, which could be a reason why people aren’t in love in this society. We barley even have R&B artists making good music.
