Cultural diversity celebrated

The Artistic and Cultural Committee of the Favrot Student Union Board, along with the Center for International Affairs, presented its Cultural Diversity Day showcase on Tuesday.

The day marked the beginning of International Education Week, which is a joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education in an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide in efforts to promote programs that prepare Americans for a global environment.

The event  kicked off with a Movie Madness in the Favrot Student Union movie theater, followed by the Country Exhibition and Music Showcase in the Atrium and finally the 8th Annual Celebration of Food and Culture in the Black and Gold Room.

Leon Norville, artistic and cultural chair, and international student adviser Samantha McCabe worked with the international students and organizations to ensure the day was authentic and as festive as possible to encourage student growth, education and cultural diversity.

Norville felt the activities would grant the international students at GSU an opportunity to showcase and educate not only their peers but the community in general about who they are, where they come from and what they have to offer.
