
Q&A with defensive lineman Sundiata "Sunny" Anderson
Sundiata "Sunny" Anderson is a 6'5" 240-pound defensive lineman from College Park, Ga. where he graduated from North Clayton High School. He is a sophomore playing for the Grambling State Tigers football team.
Q: When do you start playing football?
A: I started playing around 4.
Q: Whats position do you play?
A: I play defensive end.
Q: How did you end up here at Grambling?
A: I was offered a scholarship out of high school for football and decided to continue my education here at Grambling State University.
Q: What is your favorite thing about being here at GSU?
A: My favorite thing about Grambling State is the African American presence and excellence.
Q: What is something you would improve about the school?
A: I would improve the organization of certain things and make upgrades.
Q: What is your major?
A: My major is biology.
Q: What do you plan on doing with that?
A: I plan to become a biological researcher after working for the environmental protection agency for a few years.
Q: What are some personal goals you have for this football season?
A: A few of my personal goals for the season are player of the year and winning out the season.
Q: What player or players do you watch the most at your position?
A: I watch Isaiah Simmons and von Miller a lot because I feel like there great examples of how I want to play.
Q: What do you love most about your position?
A: What I like the most about my position is that I can control my fate, for the most part.
Q: What do you hate the most about your position?
A: I hate the constant contact that keeps me bruised up at my position.
Q: Describe what the game is like or what it means to you?
A: The birdseye view and feeling of the game is like a gladiator sport but the actual game is art, a teacher, it takes intelligence, it’s strategic, it’s filled with emotional ups and downs and at the end of the day it’s a game 4-5 year olds play for fun.
Q: What is your why?
A: My why is I truly love the game.
Q: Why do you play?
A: I like the competition, I like the comradeship, I like the brotherhood , the lessons, the ups and downs and I truly respect the game and the fact that I have a chance to change my life completely.
