Stokes: Like a bad dream, but we aren’t making it up

COVID-19, also known as the coronavirus, has changed the world indefinitely.

It has affected not only my life but other lives as wells. This pandemic that we're going through has taken away sports, schools, jobs are being taken away from Americans and so many people have died from this disease.

Coronavirus has affected so many lives in many ways: mentally, physically and emotionally.

Like a bad dream, but we aren’t making it up.

This virus came out of nowhere and it completely ruined plans for everyone.

Now, since malls, libraries, gyms and other businesses are closed by government order. People aren’t able to provide for themselves and their families.

Preschools, elementary schools, high schools and colleges all across the nation have suspended school and classes for the rest of the school year. Children and college students cannot attend face to face classes until further notice.

Now children and students have to continue their education online.

According to Los Angeles Times, Cal State Fullerton University is “planning to begin fall semester with online classes, one of the first universities in the nation to make that move as campuses throughout the country grapple with how long to stay closed to most students amid the coronavirus pandemic”.

This is a good and bad thing because students can continue their education virtually however some people cannot afford to purchase laptops and Internet.

Now that places that provide free wi-fi like libraries and Starbucks are closed. The rest of the semester or school year is going to be very difficult for students to learn.

As a student, you are used to waking up early in the morning and getting dressed to go to class or school.

And now, with the pandemic that America is going through being in home can be a distraction to some. You may have brothers or sisters that may need more attention, you have all the free time to watch as much television, or binge watch your favorite show on Netflix or Hulu.

Being able to reach your teachers/professors is stressful as well especially when your on a different time zone. The time zone from Los Angeles and Louisiana is 2 hours and there are times when I need to talk to my professor and they are probably off their computers for the rest of the night.
