After a narrow loss at home against Texas Southern, the Lady Tigers hit the road to play Jackson State University on their court.
The low scoring affair saw a close game for most of its duration as both teams averaged just 13 points per quarter.
The first quarter action saw the Lady Tigers hold a narrow one point lead of 13-12 and the second following the same trend as the team held just a two point lead over the Jackson squad.
At the break with a 23-21 score, the Lady Tigers were shooting just over 37 percent from the field while the JSU group struggled as well with just 19 percent on field goals.
As play resumed, the third quarter went back and forth as the Jackson State team were able to score 15 points and tie the game 46-46 in a great comeback attempt.
The tides changed as the last quarter of the game began.
The JSU team became nearly un-guardable as they went for a game high 25 points in the final frame compared to the Lady Tigers 10 points.
The 15 point differential proved too much for the team to try and come back from as Jackson State left with a dominant 61-45 win to extend their SWAC victories to 7-0.
For Grambling, Justice Coleman led the group in team highs with 17 points and nine rebounds with help from Jemiah Harrison’s 12 points and six rebounds.
Jackson State’s ball movement was evident on the stat sheet as four players ended the game in double figures for points.
Dayzsha Rogan finished with 15 points and a game high six points coming from the charity stripe along.
Sumer Williams assisted with 12 points and nine rebounds with teammates Ameshya Williams and Marneisha Hamer added 10 points each and a combined 17 rebounds.
The Lady Tigers will look to pick up a win against a 3-14 UAPB team to break a six game losing streak.
