GSU women’s basketball picks up first win of season against Centenary

Five of the Grambling State University women’s basketball players finished the night with points in double figures, including Candice Parramore who was just two rebounds shy of a triple-double and Mylashia Yancy recorded a double-double as head coach Freddie Murray and the Lady Tigers picked up their first win on Wednesday, defeating Centenary, 106-42, at the Fredrick C. Hobdy Assembly Center.

Justice Coleman (who shot 100% from the free-throw line) and Brandi Washington combined for a total 50 points, each scoring 25 a piece, to assist the Lady Tigers in their victory. 

Coleman also recorded six rebounds, four assists and three steals, while Washington registered five boards, seven steals and three assists. 

Parramore ended the contest with 21 points, 10 steals, eight rebounds and two assists, while Yancy recorded 13 points, 11 rebounds, three assists and one steal. 

Markisha Body tallied 12 points and a solo rebound. Tacoya Allen paced Centenary with 11 points and three rebounds, while Bre Frierson registered 11 points as well along with five rebounds.

Grambling State (1-3) held a strong lead for 39 minutes and 10 seconds throughout the game against Centenary (0-3).
