How to avoid parking tickets

On Aug. 12 a campus parking advisory was put into effect for Grambling students, enforcing the campus parking decal policy.

Students must display the appropriate decal when parking or face receiving a ticket.

There are two simple solutions to avoid getting parking tickets.

“Buy a decal and park in student-designated parking,” said Jeanette Amos, administrative coordinator in the Office of Traffic & Public Safety Support.

Students pay for a parking decal at the cashier’s window in Long-Jones Hall.

A parking decal for students costs $14 for both resident and commuter students.

After paying for their parking decals, students should go see Amos in the Traffic Office in Room 171 of Long-Jones Hall and show their receipt, upon which, she will give you a parking decal and a parking pamphlet.

Vehicle registration is available through students’ BannerWeb accounts, by clicking U Park and hitting Register Vehicle.

Amos also said that on-campus students are not allowed to drive to class between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Some of the areas designated for commuting parking include the lot on Dickerson Street between Adams and Woodson Hall and the lot across from the old University Police station near the St. Benedict Catholic Church and the south side of current University Police station.
