Cooper notches 200th career win

GSU Tigers baseball team and Head coach James Cooper, defeated Arkansas-Pine Bluff 10-8 sweeping the Golden Lions in a three game series. Cooper gained his 200th career coaching win with the victory in the opening game.
Grambling State (19-19 overall, 13-7 SWAC) kept the momentum into the following two games coming out victorious 19-2 in the second game and 14-11 in the final night game.
The Tigers had a strong offensive outing scoring 43 runs through three games against the Golden Lions.
Cooper was named the 2010 SWAC Baseball Coach of the Year, and led the Tigers to a SWAC championship in his first season as head coach, as well as being a 33rd round draft pick to the Houston Astros.
Cooper has coached numerous players that have gone on to play professionally under his helm, players like Jeremy Shelby drafted in the 38th round by the Baltimore Orioles, Eldred Barnett 29th round pick by the San Francisco Giants, and Chris Wolfe a 30th round Oakland A’s draftee.
