The Grambling State volleyball team had a marvelous season and a lot of that had to do with the play of senior L’Muriell Thrower.
On the season, Thrower led GSU with 626 assists and 30 service aces.
The Lady Tigers season it came to an end in the SWAC Tournament, as the Lady Tigers fell to Southern University 3-1.
Thrower led GSU with 20 assists and 12 digs in that match.
To most seniors the defeat may have be a brokenhearted time, but for Thrower the end of the season signaled a start of something greater in life.
“I plan on going to further my volleyball career overseas,” Thrower said. “Volleyball has taught me many life lessons like discipline, commitment, and dedication. I’m very grateful to be able to do what I love.”
Although the Lady Tigers fell short of the SWAC Championship crown Thrower found a silver lining in personal success on the court.
“One goal that holds a special place in my heart is ranking top ten in serves in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC),” Thrower said.
Thrower is known by her peers as the ultimate teammate.
“Remember, mind over matter,” Thrower said as advice for returning teammates. “Mentally, stay strong. It starts within, so challenge yourself to be great.”
Thrower finished her final collegiate season and plans to further her career in volleyball.
“God is within her she will not fall is my daily motto,” she said. “Anything comes my way that tries to knock me down, will not make me fail.”
