The Grambling State University Mass Communication Department held a small retirement luncheon on Wednesday for one of their very own, Dr. Sharon Ford-Dunn. After working at Grambling State for over 30 years as an associate professor, Dunn has decided to retire at the end of the Fall 2018 semester.
“It feels great.” Dr. Dunn said. “I’ve been here for more than thirty years and I’ve enjoyed every moment of it. I love every one of my students and I will miss them dearly.”
Receiving both her bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication and her master’s degree in Humanities from Grambling State University, Dr. Ford-Dunn went on to Kansas State University in Manhattan, KS to achieve her Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction. She returned to GSU to teach courses like Introduction to Mass Communication, Mass Media Writing & Editing, Mass Media & Society, and Communication Law & Ethics. “We will miss your wisdom and experience, but most of all; we will miss your encouragement to others. Congratulations and best wishes,” said Ms. Lind Mays-Logan, the department’s secretary. Dunn has also operated as the coordinator for Internships in the College of Professional Studies. The associate professor has already made plans for her post-retirement.
“I plan to just travel, enjoy life, and have a good time.”
